Seems that the financial hard times are hurting below the border and below the belt (that’s where the wallet’s at, come on). Not only that, but Mexico and Brazil are reporting a major fall-off of remittances. Don’t believe me? Check out this Pew Hispanic Center report. Some of this just shows how grossly outdated the 2000 census data is by now. Although I’m sure you can guess what kind of a cute reaction this gets:
