UPDATE: Which Way is East?

This is an update of an earlier post.

The LA moniker drama rages on this week, with LA Observed, LAT and LAist all in the mix, and a push by obsessive Van Nuys blogger and LAist editor Zach Behrens spearheading an effort to gerrymander the maps for the city’s new hipster/immigrant realities. In conjunction with LANerd, at a fucking snail’s pace.

In other LA news, my old haunts, the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, are forcing their entire staff (that’s the Daily News, the Daily Breeze and the Long Beach Press-Telegram, etc) to take unpaid time off this month. With the LAT eviscerating its entire staff on a bi-monthly basis, who will be left to cover country’s  second largest city?

I guess it’s on you, Univison.

The lack of paid staff at papers is getting truly scary.
